The Behringer BSY600 is a bass synthesizer pedal: RockBoard's PedalPedia describes it as "a sophisticated bass synthesizer tucked away in a compact stomp box"1. It takes the signal from a bass or guitar and reworks it into synth-style tones, and RockBoard's PedalPedia says it "gives your guitar or bass tons of extra low-frequency tone and funkiness"1. It belongs to Behringer's line of bass effects, alongside pedals like the Behringer Bass Limiter Enhancer and the Behringer Bass Overdrive, and sits in the wider family of synth pedals and bass pedals.
What it does
The BSY600 works by generating synth waveforms rather than simply processing the incoming signal. It offers 11 waveform modes built on square, sawtooth and pulse waveforms, and Behringer's product page says these "provide a veritable truckload of" tones for the player to choose from1. In practice that means a bassist can dial in anything from a rounded square-wave synth bass to sharper sawtooth and pulse sounds, all from a single stomp box.
Because the circuit is analog, the pedal generates its tones without digital conversion1. For a player, that places it among the analog filter and octave and pitch style effects that reshape a bass signal into synth-like textures, though the BSY600's own approach is its bank of selectable waveform modes.
Power
The BSY600 runs on a 9V DC supply with a center negative plug and draws 30 mA1. A standard 9V pedal supply covers it, and the draw is low enough that it sits comfortably alongside other pedals on a shared daisy-chained supply.
