The UC100 Ultra Chorus is a compact stereo chorus pedal from Behringer, a maker known for budget-priced effects. It runs in mono mode for a single-amp setup and offers a stereo option for players running two amps or a stereo rig. Reviewing it for MusicRadar, Chris Vinnicombe noted the appeal of the price: "Great price for a stereo chorus pedal."1
For a wider look at what chorus does to a guitar signal, see the site's page on Chorus Pedals.
What it does
The pedal's chorus effect is available in two configurations, and the choice of mode shapes where the pedal makes sense on a board1:
| Mode | How it works | Best suited to |
|---|---|---|
| Mono | Single output, straight into one amplifier | A single-amp setup |
| Stereo | Spreads the modulated signal across two channels | Two amps or a stereo rig |
Vinnicombe's verdict on the mono mode was blunt: "In mono mode straight into the amplifier, this is a pretty uninspiring, generic chorus sound." The stereo option is where the pedal's design points, since a stereo chorus is unusual at this price.1
Build and battery access
The electronics sit in a plastic case roughly 2.5mm thick. Vinnicombe judged it robust enough to endure vigorous stomping, though not as kick-proof as a diecast casing, which is worth knowing if the pedal will live on a heavily gigged board.1
Changing the battery is not a matter of a simple drawer. As Vinnicombe described it: "Battery access is achieved by depressing the black plastic hinges in with a ballpoint pen or similar pointy tool."1
The plastic housing is not diecast metal, so it is less kick-proof than a typical metal-cased pedal.1
Where it came from
Behringer introduced the UC100 as part of its line of compact chorus pedals. The electronics are housed in a plastic enclosure approximately 2.5mm thick; Sound on Sound's reviewer described it as robust enough to endure vigorous stomping, though not as kick-proof as a diecast casing.1
Behringer's later chorus pedals
The UC100 was an early entry in a line of budget Behringer choruses and modulation effects that has continued for years. Later additions to the company's chorus family include1:
- The Behringer Chorus Symphony, a clone of the Boss CE-1 released in 2025
- The '69 Vibe, a Uni-Vibe style chorus and vibrato pedal announced in 2024
Players comparing compact Behringer modulation pedals may also come across the Behringer Ultra Chorus and the Behringer Chorus Space.
