The Catalinbread Giygas 2K Fuzz is a fuzz pedal and a second take on the company's original Giygas. Where the original added gain from several cascading equalizer stages, this version uses some circuit tricks to distribute that extra gain more evenly, so that both the initial boost circuit and the clipping stages are enhanced to replicate the bonus gain. Catalinbread describes the pedal at full settings plainly: "A dimed Giygas is a truly wonderful thing."1
How the circuit differs from the original Giygas
The Giygas 2K is built around the Muff-style fuzz layout. As Catalinbread explains it, "Typically, a Muff's fuzz control governs the amount of volume from the initial boost circuit let into the clipping stage." The original Giygas instead added gain through several cascading equalizer stages. In the 2K version, that extra gain is spread more evenly across the circuit, so the initial boost and the clipping are both enhanced to reproduce what those equalizer stages contributed.1

Power
The Giygas 2K runs on a 9V standard center-negative power supply, which is the common pedalboard standard. Catalinbread recommends running it at 9V for optimal interaction with the instrument.1
Catalinbread warns that plugging in the wrong supply voids the warranty. Stick to a 9V center-negative supply and keep it off a shared daisy chain if you are unsure of its condition.1
