The Canny Fettle Boost is a boost pedal from UK maker Champion Leccy, described by the maker as an expanded or deluxe version of the original Fettle Boost. It was announced for release on Friday 27th November 2020, the same day as the company's Kilter pedal1.
What it does
The pedal has two sides. The Fettle side is a JFET section that the maker says is essentially the same as the original Fettle Boost, with two additions: an extra low pass filter switch, called lop-ass, and an internal volume control2.
The clart side is the new territory. Champion Leccy's Woolly says it "now shares DNA with the discontinued Bloody Gett, and specifically the dunsh setting," having evolved beyond a simple LPB-1 style boost2. It covers a wide range: "The clart side now goes from clean boost through to mega distortion, with a three position dunsh switch"2.
Controls
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Dunsh switch (clart side) | Three positions: no dunsh, a bit of dunsh, full dunsh, taking the clart side from clean boost to mega distortion2 |
| Lop-ass switch (Fettle side) | Extra low pass filter switch on the JFET section2 |
| High pass filter switch (clart side) | Tailors the sound to your own needs2 |
| Internal volume control (Fettle side) | Set inside the pedal, an addition over the original Fettle Boost2 |
Where it came from
The Canny Fettle Boost arrived alongside another Champion Leccy pedal: the maker announced that "on the same day we are releasing the Kilter, we're also releasing the 'Canny' Fettle Boost," with both landing on Friday 27th November1.
