The Chandler Limited Little Devil Colored Boost is an effects pedal and one of the company's first two effects pedals, released alongside the Germanium Drive. Chandler positions it in the territory between a boost and a fuzz: as No Treble's Kevin Johnson put it when the pedal shipped, "The Little Devil is somewhere between a clean boost and a fuzz."1
What it does
The pedal is aimed at more than one instrument. Chandler Limited's first pedals "work for bass, guitar or keyboard," so a bassist can use it on a board as readily as a guitarist, and it sits alongside the Germanium Drive in the company's opening pedal range.1
Its main control beyond the footswitch is a preset knob that selects between six feedback and bias modes. Feedback and bias settings shape how hard the circuit clips and how it behaves as it is pushed, which is what moves the pedal along the range from a boost that mostly lifts the signal toward a fuzz that adds pronounced saturation.1
Both pedals in the range feature true bypass, so the pedal is out of the signal path when switched off.1
Power
The Little Devil Colored Boost runs on dual 9V power supplies or a pair of 9V batteries.1
Because the pedal needs two 9V sources, whether supplies or batteries, it will not run from a single 9V output or a standard daisy chain. Plan the power supply accordingly.
Release and price
Chandler Limited's first effects pedals, the Germanium Drive and the Little Devil Colored Boost, were reported shipping on 7 October 2011, with a street price of $335.1
