The Dedalo FX Byte BYT-1 is a bitcrusher synth pedal: an 8-bit digital synthesizer in a stompbox, aimed at guitar and bass players who want synthesized tones from their instrument. RockBoard's PedalPedia describes it as generating "powerful synthesized tones," with an oscillator section, a sub-octave voice, and a low pass filter with envelope that shape the sound, and aliasing that, in the maker's words, "takes you to other worlds."1

What it does

The Byte's sound engine centers on two oscillators. RockBoard's PedalPedia entry describes "the 5-waveform oscillator with the 2-waveform suboctave," and the maker's description through US distributor Godlyke fills in the arrangement: two independent oscillators with several waveforms, one running at the original frequency of the note you play and another one octave lower, usable together or separately.12

The pedal tracks your pitch monophonically. Godlyke's listing is direct about the limitation: "The detector is monophonic (it only handles one note at a time)." In practice that means single-note lines, riffs and bass parts are what the Byte is built to follow, rather than chords.2

Between the oscillators and the output sits a low pass filter with an envelope, which Dedalo Fx credits with giving the pedal "incredible versatility," alongside the aliasing that comes with 8-bit conversion.1

Power and practical notes

The Byte runs on 9V DC, center negative, and draws 100mA. That current draw is worth checking against whatever supply you plan to use, since some small pedalboard power supplies give less per output.1

The pedal was listed as sold out at Godlyke Distributing, the US retailer carrying it, as of 26 October 2026, with the listing marked B-stock.2

Dedalo Fx, an Argentine builder, also makes related synth-adjacent pedals such as the ALU9 Aliaser, and its Pixel line has continued since. Players comparing the Byte with other stompbox synths may also want to look at the Electro-Harmonix Bass Mono Synth, the Source Audio C4 Synth, or the DigiTech Dirty Robot, and at the wider field of Synth Pedals.
