The Demedash Effects T-120 Deluxe V2 is a delay and pitch shifter from Canadian builder Demedash Effects. Where most tape-style delays take a revered vintage machine as their reference, the T-120 line instead emulates the lo-fi sound of VHS tapes: as Delicious Audio's Paolo De Gregorio put it, it "emulates the lo-fi sound of VHS tapes"1. RockBoard's PedalPedia describes the Deluxe V2 as inspired by "the garbled audio that accompanies worn-out and poorly aged budget bin video tape"2.
The pedal is a hybrid circuit2 that combines a delay line, running roughly 60ms to 1200ms, with an LFO (low-frequency oscillator) that modulates the pitch of the delayed signal. That pitch modulation is what gives the T-120 its wobbling, tape-degraded character, and the Deluxe V2 gives you more control over it than any other version of the pedal. It is currently listed as sold out on the maker's store page34.
A video-tape-inspired delay and pitch shifter
The T-120's core sound comes from two parts working together. The delay line sets the echo, and the LFO pushes the pitch of those repeats around, the way a stretched or badly worn videotape drags its audio. Demedash describes the pedal as "part tape machine and part nostalgia engine"4.
The standard T-120 V2's control set shows how the circuit works, and the Deluxe shares the same tape-worn sounds5:
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Time | Sets delay length from short slapback to long, grainy echo, about 60ms to 1200ms4 |
| Intensity | Feeds the delay output back into the input, controlling the level and duration of repeats, up to self-oscillation4 |
| Depth | Sets how widely the LFO makes the delayed signal's pitch swing4 |
| Speed | Controls the rate of the LFO4 |
The Deluxe V2 expands the modulation side with four controls, two primary and two secondary, giving continuous control over the depth, rate, sharpness and randomization of the waveform that modulates the delayed pitch5. With the delay time set to minimum, the unit can also be used as a vibrato5.
Glide and Randomize
The V2 generation of the T-120 introduced two secondary settings not found on the V1: Glide, under the Depth knob, and Randomize, under the Speed knob46. Glide smooths out the transitions of the LFO output. For a periodic LFO, it moves from fully square to fully triangular; for a random LFO, it moves from instantaneous jumps to a slowly varying warbling smear3. In Delicious Audio's words, these controls let you adjust "the smoothness of the modulation transitions (from pitch jumps to smooth pitch glides)"1.
Tap tempo, stereo outputs and other features
The Deluxe V2's additions over the standard T-120 V2 are the features aimed at players who need the most out of their rig2:
- Tap tempo with four selectable subdivisions32
- Stereo outputs for a wide depth of field, via a TRS output jack: left outputs dry + wet, right outputs dry - wet352
- Four modulation controls (two primary, two secondary) for continuous control over depth, rate, sharpness and randomization of the modulating waveform5
- Soft switching5
- Vibrato use at minimum delay time5
The standard T-120 V2, by contrast, is mono in and mono out4, and when the V2 was announced Delicious Audio noted that "Tap Tempo is not currently an available feature, and will not be for the foreseeable future" on it1. The V2 generation as a whole brought reduced noise alongside the soft switching and the new LFO parameters7.
History and versions
The T-120 line goes back to 2018, and the Deluxe V2 is its fifth major step:
| Version | Date | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| T-120 V1 | Mid-2018 | Retired in early 20204 |
| T-120 Deluxe V1 | Early 2019 | Discontinued mid-20203 |
| T-120 V2 | June/July 2020 | Soft switching, Glide and Randomize46 |
| T-120 Deluxe V2 | December 2020 | Current Deluxe version3 |
A T-120 Deluxe 1.5 also existed between the Deluxe V1 and V2; Pedal of the Day tried one in May 2020 and found it "has a couple more options available, while retaining that" classic T-120 sound8. The original T-120 Videotape Echo was hand-built one at a time, with a wait list hovering around a year and small batches released periodically on Reverb.com8, and Delicious Audio reported a waiting list for orders for both the regular and Deluxe versions since the pedal first appeared1.
The Deluxe V2 has been offered in a range of finishes: White, Pink, Black Sparkle, Stamped/Polished, Stamped/Army Green and Stamped/Candyapple Red3. Colorways with more metal knobs or labor-intensive stamping carry added costs5.
Both the T-120 V2 and the T-120 DLX V2 are listed as sold out on the maker's store pages34. Demedash builds in small batches, so availability depends on the next release.

Questions
What is the difference between the T-120 Deluxe V2 and the standard T-120 V2?
The Deluxe V2 carries the same tape-worn sounds as the standard T-120 V2 but adds features for players who need more from their rig: tap tempo with four selectable subdivisions, stereo outputs (the standard version is mono in and mono out), and four modulation controls, two primary and two secondary, instead of the standard version's modulation controls.
What are Glide and Randomize on the T-120 V2?
They are two secondary settings introduced with the V2, found on both the standard and Deluxe versions. Glide sits under the Depth knob and smooths the transitions of the LFO output, from fully square to fully triangular for a periodic LFO, or from instantaneous jumps to a slowly varying warbling smear for a random LFO. Randomize sits under the Speed knob.
Does the T-120 Deluxe V2 have tap tempo?
Yes. The Deluxe V2 has tap tempo with four selectable subdivisions. The standard T-120 V2 does not: when the V2 was announced, Delicious Audio noted that tap tempo was not an available feature on it and would not be for the foreseeable future.
Does the T-120 Deluxe V2 have stereo outputs?
Yes. It has a mono input and stereo output via a TRS jack, with the left output carrying dry plus wet and the right carrying dry minus wet. The standard T-120 V2 is mono in and mono out.
What power does the T-120 Deluxe V2 need?
It runs on 9V DC, center negative, drawing about 30mA. There is no battery compartment and the adapter is not included, so you need a compatible power supply.
Is the T-120 Deluxe V2 still available?
The maker's store page lists the T-120 DLX V2 as sold out. Demedash builds pedals by hand in small batches, and the T-120 line has carried a waiting list since it first appeared, so availability depends on the next batch release.
