The Fender Bubbler Analog Chorus is an all-analog chorus stompbox, new for 2019, that adds a swirling, doubled character to a guitar signal. It is built around switchable slow and fast speed settings, each with its own independent rate and depth controls, so two different chorus sounds can be dialed in and switched between during play. It also carries stereo outputs, an aluminum enclosure, and LEDs inset in the knobs, a feature Guitar.com notes was fast becoming a recognized Fender pedal trait1.

What it does

As a chorus pedal, the Bubbler layers a detuned copy of the guitar's signal against the original to create width and movement. Fender describes it as "a great way to add some dimension to your guitar tone", and Guitar.com's Samuel Roberts characterizes its sounds as "thick, wide and rolling"1. Being an all-analog design, it processes the signal without digital conversion1.

The two-speed layout is the pedal's defining feature: switchable slow and fast speed settings, each with independent rate and depth controls. A player can switch between the two settings as needed1.

Controls

ControlWhat it does
Rate (slow setting)Sets the modulation speed of the slow chorus setting1
Depth (slow setting)Sets the modulation intensity of the slow chorus setting1
Rate (fast setting)Sets the modulation speed of the fast chorus setting1
Depth (fast setting)Sets the modulation intensity of the fast chorus setting1
Wave switchToggles between sine and triangle waveforms1

The wave switch changes the shape of the modulation itself: a sine waveform gives a smoother sweep, while a triangle waveform gives a more linear one1.

The Bubbler is "an all-analogue chorus stompbox with switchable slow/fast speed settings and independent rate and depth controls".
Samuel Roberts, Guitar.com1

Where it sits in Fender's pedal range

The Bubbler arrived as part of Fender's 2019 expansion of its effects line, and it sits alongside other Fender chorus designs such as the earlier Fender Competition Chorus from the 2013 Competition Series.
