The Gamechanger Audio MOD Delay is a stereo delay pedal and one of three pedals, alongside a Reverb and a Chorus, that launched Gamechanger Audio's MOD Series at NAMM 2024. It offers three delay algorithms, Pristine Digital, Warm Tape and Gritty Analog BBD, so a player can move between a clean digital repeat, the character of tape, and the sound of a vintage bucket-brigade analog delay chip12.

Controls and the Mod switch

The pedal has four controls covering its level, time, feedback and tone, the basic delay parameters most players will expect2. Alongside them sits a Mod switch next to the bypass switch. When activated, it allows a parameter to respond to your playing: MusicRadar's example from the series is a decay time that increases on higher notes played with a hall reverb setting3.

On the delay specifically, Guitar World reports that the time parameter will fluctuate when playing in a high register, "for some real acid trip-style tomfoolery"2.

Stereo options and syncing

The delay includes three ping pong options, spanning 0%, 50% and 100%, which set how repeats alternate between the two stereo outputs2. For keeping time with the rest of a rig, the pedal features MIDI or analog clock synchronization, as well as tap tempo to lock the effect in with a stomp or two2.

Price and availability

The MOD Series Chorus, Delay and Reverb were each priced at $299 in the US and £269 in the UK3. The delay in the series features tape, analog and digital algorithms, with three ping pong options spanning 0%, 50% and 100%, plus MIDI or analog clock synchronization and tap tempo2.

The MOD Series Delay's ping pong options span 0%, 50% and 100%, so the effect can be set fully to one side, centered, or fully opposite in the stereo field2.

Questions

What does the Mod switch do on the MOD Series Delay?

The Mod switch lets a parameter of the effect respond to your playing. On the delay, the time parameter fluctuates when you play in a high register, which Guitar World described as producing what it called acid trip-style results. Across the MOD Series, an example is the decay time increasing on higher notes played with a hall reverb setting.

How much does the Gamechanger Audio MOD Series Delay cost?

The MOD Series Delay was priced at $299 in the United States and £269 in the UK when the series launched at NAMM 2024, according to MusicRadar. The Chorus and Reverb pedals in the series carry the same price.

Can the MOD Series Delay sync to other gear?

Yes. Guitar World reports that the delay features MIDI or analog clock synchronization, as well as tap tempo, so the effect can be locked in time with a stomp or two or with external clock sources.
