The Harley Benton DNAfx GiT Advanced is an amp modeler and multi-effects unit: a floor pedal that puts amp and cab modeling, effects, a tuner and a looper in one box, with a built-in expression pedal under your foot. It is the middle tier of Harley Benton's DNAfx GiT range, which runs from the base DNAfx GiT up to the DNAfx GiT Pro1.
MusicRadar's review counts 55 guitar and bass amp models on board, plus 26 guitar and bass cabinet impulse responses with support for uploading third-party IRs12. It was announced in July 2024 and made available to order at Thomann, positioned to build on the reputation of the GiT and GiT Pro3.
What it is and what it does
The DNAfx GiT Advanced models amps, cabinets and effects in one unit, so a player can build complete tones, from clean to high gain, without a separate amp. MusicRadar's reviewer found the presets are organized in banks of three, with the first two banks laid out logically from clean to dirtier, and deeper banks mixing high-gain, post-rock and tremolo-clean patches1.
The DNAfx GiT gives players a large, easy-to-read LED color display for navigating its sounds2. The DNAfx GiT Pro sits above it in the range with MIDI in/out and a durable aluminum housing4. The Advanced arrived in 2024 to fill the gap between them3, and its preset banks are arranged with a player in mind: each bank holds three settings, with the first two banks laid out logically from clean to dirtier, while the deeper banks mix high-gain, post-rock and tremolo clean patches13.
Controls and footswitches
The front panel is deliberately minimal: three knobs and six buttons on the ABS/aluminum chassis1. The footswitches switch between presets, access the tuner and looper, and offer a tap tempo function1. The onboard expression pedal handles further manipulation of effects and their parameters3.
By comparison, the GiT Pro gives you four footswitches, Output, Select, Store, Menu and Exit buttons, left and right cursors, and five push-in parameter knobs5, and the base GiT carries Mode, Value, Master, Play, Save, EXP, Rhythm, Tap and System controls6.
| Unit | Knobs/buttons | Footswitches | Expression pedal |
|---|---|---|---|
| DNAfx GiT Advanced | 3 knobs, 6 buttons1 | Presets, tuner, looper, tap tempo1 | Built in3 |
| DNAfx GiT Pro | 5 push-in parameter knobs, cursors, menu buttons5 | 45 | Built in2 |
| DNAfx GiT | Mode, Value, Master, Play, Save, EXP, Rhythm, Tap, System6 | 22 | Built in2 |
Inputs and outputs
The Advanced's connection count is what sets it apart at its price. MusicRadar lists 1 x 1/4-inch input, 2 x 1/4-inch outputs, 2 x XLR outputs, 1 x 1/8-inch headphone output, USB-B out and USB-C out, calling the dual XLR outputs unusual for a multi-effects unit at this price point1. The XLR outs let you feed a mixing desk or audio interface directly alongside your amp.
The base GiT is more limited: 6.3 mm jack input, L/R 6.3 mm mono jack outputs, a 3.5 mm stereo headphone output, a 3.5 mm stereo AUX in and a Micro USB OTG port2. The GiT Pro goes further than both, with 2 balanced XLR outputs, 2 unbalanced 6.3 mm jack outputs, MIDI in/out, a 3.5 mm headphone output, a stereo FX loop on 2 x 6.3 mm jacks, a 3.5 mm AUX input and an external expression pedal connection5.
Where it sits between the GiT and GiT Pro
The range runs in three tiers: the DNAfx GiT, then the Advanced, then the top-tier GiT Pro1. Price tells the story. The GiT launched at $140 in 20207; Guitar World later listed it at $171 (£129)6. The Advanced sits at $175 (£159)1, and the Pro at £2395.
A few practical points before ordering. The GiT Pro draws 200mA8, so plan a power supply with headroom for it. The GiT Pro is made in China5 and carries MIDI in/out plus a durable aluminum housing2, while the standard GiT uses a robust housing made of ABS on top and aluminum underneath542.
What a reviewer said
MusicRadar's Matt McCracken reviewed the Advanced and delivered a mixed verdict: strong sounds and features, let down by how it operates1.
"Overall the sounds on the Harley Benton DNAfx GiT Advanced are really good and it's jam-packed full of features, but ultimately it's let down by some operational failings."1
MusicRadar's verdict on the GiT Pro was more straightforward, praising its "wide selection of effects and amp integration options"5, while Guitar World's reviewer found the base GiT "impressively well-made and thoughtfully constructed"6.

Questions
How many amp models does the Harley Benton DNAfx GiT Advanced have?
The DNAfx GiT Advanced packs 55 guitar and bass amp models, according to MusicRadar's review. That is the same count as the original DNAfx GiT, which launched in 2020 with 55 non-linear amp models, and well above the 14 amp models in the pocket-sized DNAfx GiT Mobile II.
Does the DNAfx GiT Advanced have XLR outputs?
Yes. Alongside its two 1/4-inch outputs, the Advanced carries two XLR outputs, which MusicRadar's reviewer called unusual for a multi-effects unit at this price point. The DNAfx GiT Pro also has two balanced XLR outputs, while the base DNAfx GiT does not.
Does the DNAfx GiT Advanced have a built-in expression pedal?
Yes. The Advanced has an onboard expression pedal for manipulating effects and their parameters, as MusicRadar reported at launch. The same feature appears across the range, on both the DNAfx GiT and the DNAfx GiT Pro.
Does the DNAfx GiT Advanced come with a power adapter for UK plugs?
No. MusicRadar's review notes there is no UK adapter included in the box. This follows a pattern in the range: the DNAfx GiT Pro shipped with only a European two-pin plug for UK buyers, and Harley Benton's UK ordering has carried extra charges since Brexit.
How much does the DNAfx GiT Advanced cost?
MusicRadar lists the DNAfx GiT Advanced at $175 USD, also given as £159. That places it above the base DNAfx GiT, which launched at $140 in 2020, and below the DNAfx GiT Pro at £239.
Does the DNAfx GiT Advanced work in stereo?
Yes. The Advanced has stereo 1/4-inch outputs plus two XLR outputs, so it can run a full stereo rig or feed a PA. The DNAfx GiT Pro also offers stereo effects, while the base DNAfx GiT has L/R 6.3 mm mono jack outputs.
