The Horrothia Triage Deluxe High-Headroom Transistor Preamp Germanium Diodes Edition is a preamp pedal from the British builder Horrothia, finished in a copper hammered enclosure1.
Controls
The pedal carries six controls plus a clipping switch. Guitar Pedal X lists them as "Clip Off/Clip On, Headroom 6V>16V, Input HPF 20Hz>1kHz, Gain, Breath and Output"1.
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Clip Off/Clip On switch | Engages or bypasses the germanium clipping stage1 |
| Headroom | Ranges from 6V to 16V, accommodating a variety of playing styles1 |
| Input HPF | High-pass filter controlling the lows, from 20Hz to 1kHz1 |
| Gain | Sets the amount of drive1 |
| Breath | Covers the highs1 |
| Output | Sets the output level1 |
Karlsson shared his preferred settings: clipping on, Headroom at 9 o'clock, HPF at 9 o'clock, Gain at 4 o'clock, Breath at 3 o'clock and Output at 4 o'clock1.
The germanium clipping
The headline difference from the standard Triage Deluxe is the clipping: the Germanium Diodes Edition uses germanium diodes, with twice the amount of germanium as the original's silicon diodes, including a number of 1N34A diodes, the type long associated with the Klon circuit1. Karlsson summed up the character this gives:
"I saw the announcement - loved the copper hammered finish, and loved the beautiful gritty textured output even more"1
He described the pedal as in some ways a Super-Klone, at least in the clipping department1.
Availability and release history
The Germanium Diodes Edition was initially limited to three pedals, of which numbers 1 and 2 were pre-sold. Horrothia then converted it to a general release, with further units available through the Horrothia Reverb.com store. According to Guitar Pedal X, these will be part of a regular release cycle, so more units are expected1.
As of the February 2026 announcement there were no YouTube demos of the Germanium Diodes Edition itself, though Instagram demos accompanied the announcement. Guitar Pedal X notes there are demos of the earlier V1 Germanium Triage Edition1.

Questions
What diodes does the Triage Deluxe Germanium Diodes Edition use?
It uses germanium diodes for clipping, with twice the amount of germanium as the silicon diodes in the original Triage Deluxe. Among them are 1N34A diodes, the type associated with the Klon circuit, which is why Guitar Pedal X described the pedal as in some ways a Super-Klone at least in the clipping department.
How is the Germanium Diodes Edition different from the standard Triage Deluxe?
The Germanium Diodes Edition swaps the standard version's silicon clipping diodes for germanium, using twice the number. It is also a significant update from the 2022 three-knob Triage, adding a Clip On/Off switch and a Headroom control alongside the Input HPF, Gain, Breath and Output controls, and it carries a copper hammered finish.
Where can I buy the Horrothia Triage Deluxe Germanium edition?
The pedal began as a limited run of three units, of which numbers 1 and 2 were pre-sold, and was then converted to a general release. Further units are available through the Horrothia Reverb.com store, and Guitar Pedal X reports they will be part of a regular release cycle with more to come.
Are there demos of the Triage Deluxe Germanium Diodes Edition?
As of the February 2026 announcement there were no YouTube demos of the Germanium Diodes Edition itself, though Instagram demos accompanied the announcement. Guitar Pedal X notes there are demos of the earlier V1 Germanium Triage Edition for players wanting a sense of the germanium approach.
