The Hudson Electronics Bluebird is a fuzz pedal described by its maker as "a hand-crafted recreation of the of the all-germanium Fuzzrite built by Mosrite in the mid sixties." It was limited to only 30 pieces worldwide, and the product is now archived on Hudson Electronics' site and no longer available1. It belongs to a wider line of Hudson fuzz designs, including the Hudson Electronics Buzzard and the Hudson Electronics FUZZ.
What it does
The Bluebird's circuit is, in Hudson's words, "two sounds out of phase with each other." The first is a darkish, cleanish boost; the second is a super bright, buzzy full-on fuzz. The single DEPTH control blends the two together, and at the extremes of the control each tone is heard in isolation1.
Because the two signals are out of phase, blending them does more than just mix clean and fuzz. Hudson describes the result as three dimensional fuzz tones with pseudo octave effects, a character that comes from the interaction of the two signals rather than from a separate octave circuit1. That puts the Bluebird among the small family of octave-adjacent fuzz designs, a different approach from the straight fuzzes covered on the Fuzz Pedals page.

The Bluebird was a limited run of 30 pieces worldwide and is listed as archived on Hudson Electronics' site, so it is no longer in production1.
