The Industrialectric Incinerator is a dual-channel silicon fuzz with two oscillators, built by the Canadian manufacturer Industrialectric. Delicious Audio describes it as a fuzz "whose function is to add an insane unpredictable element" to a signal, and the company says it can deliver sounds ranging from smooth fuzz to synthetic madness, with one channel able to be set as a musical boost or overdrive1. It belongs to the stranger end of the fuzz pedal world, alongside the maker's Generator 7446.

What it does and how it is controlled

The Incinerator carries two fuzz channels, and the second channel has two modes of fuzz oscillation12. The oscillators are there to push the fuzz into unstable, synth-like territory rather than to track pitch. Delicious Audio's description of the range is blunt:

"can deliver a wide variety of sounds from smooth fuzz to synthetic madness, but one of the channels can be made to sound" like a musical boost or overdrive
Paolo De Gregorio, Delicious Audio1

Control comes from six knobs and five toggle switches1. Among them, Channel 1 has a voltage starve control2, which changes how the transistors are fed and with it the texture of the fuzz. The circuit itself is built from 26 transistors, 5 of which are a special rare silicon transistor1; gearnews.com's report of the re-release matches that count, describing two channels that use 26 transistors, 5 of which are rare silicon types2.

Versions: original and Deluxe

The Incinerator was Industrialectric's first pedal release, back in 20121. In July 2022 the company re-released the design for its 10th anniversary, at an MSRP of USD 430, with a waitlist for units2. The Incinerator Deluxe was announced at the same time, boasting the same circuit as the original1.

The Incinerator was Industrialectric's first pedal release, back in 20121. The design was reissued for the company's 10th anniversary, and the pedal is available again through a waitlist2. According to the maker, it can deliver a wide variety of sounds from smooth fuzz to synthetic madness, and one of the channels can be made to sound like a musical boost or overdrive1.

Look and power

gearnews.com's writer described the enclosure as "a boutique pedal design that looks like something from a 1950s Russian missile silo, complete with a VU meter and big red lights, switches and knobs"2. Power is 9VDC operation1.

Do not confuse the Industrialectric Incinerator with AMT Electronics' Incinerator NG-1 and NG-2, which AMT describes as noise control devices, the NG-2 being a further development of the NG-1 with an IR cabsim carrying one IR for both L/R channels per preset4. They are different products from a different maker that happen to share a name.

Questions

Is the Industrialectric Incinerator true bypass?

Yes. Delicious Audio's product page lists the Incinerator as true bypass, so when the pedal is off your guitar signal passes through without loading the chain. That matters on a pedalboard where the Incinerator sits alongside other time-based and gain pedals.

What power does the Incinerator need?

The Incinerator runs on 9VDC power operation, according to Delicious Audio's product page. Before wiring it into a shared power supply with other pedals, match the supply to the maker's own specification for polarity and current draw.

How many transistors are in the Incinerator?

The Incinerator contains 26 transistors. Delicious Audio reports that 5 of those are a special rare silicon transistor, and gearnews.com likewise describes two channels built around 26 transistors, 5 of which are rare silicon types.

What is the difference between the Incinerator and the Incinerator Deluxe?

The Deluxe carries the same circuit as the original but adds a potentiometer and separate inputs and outputs for the two channels. The 2022 Deluxe run also added a voltage meter, a power switch, top-mounted controls, a power indicator and an engraved faceplate.

Does the Incinerator have separate inputs and outputs for each channel?

On the Deluxe version, yes: it has separate inputs and outputs for each channel, which lets you process the two fuzz channels independently. gearnews.com notes the design includes separate Ins and Outs for processing the two fuzz channels.

What does the voltage starve control do?

Voltage starve is a control on Channel 1 of the Incinerator, according to gearnews.com's coverage. Starving a fuzz circuit of voltage is a way of changing how the transistors behave, which alters the character of the fuzz rather than just its volume.
