The Jeds Peds Riot is a DIY guitar effects pedal kit in the distortion family, described by its maker as delivering "High Gain distortion and full on saturation" with a wah type mid boost option. It is sold both as a solder it yourself kit and as a Pre Built Kit, and Jeds Peds states plainly what it is modeled on: "This kit compares to the Suhr Riot," the high gain distortion pedal from Suhr.1
What it does to your sound
Jeds Peds describes the Riot as "versatile high gain distortion and saturation with wah type mid boost option," a description that points at the circuit it follows. Suhr's own material describes the pedal it is based on as "a versatile high-gain distortion pedal with the sonic characteristics and touch sensitivity of a high quality 100 watt tube amplifier."213 Suhr's user guide repeats that framing and describes the pedal's voice switch middle position as putting you "into high gain territory with a solid midrange, with a tight bottom end."342
The mid boost toggle is the kit's distinguishing feature: rather than a moving wah, it is a fixed, "stuck" wah type boost that can be switched in or out, sitting alongside a clipping diode selector and a presence toggle.1

Kit versions and what is included
Jeds Peds sells the Riot in six forms, so you can take on as much or as little of the build as you like:1
- PCB Only: just the plain PCB
- PCB & Components: PCB with the parts that go on it
- PCB & Components and off board parts: adds the foot switch, jacks, 9V socket and LED
- Full Kit: as above, with an undrilled JP125B enclosure in the 6 hole configuration
- Full Kit & Drilling: adds all the holes for a complete pedal, for a small surcharge
- Pre Built Kit: assembled by Jeds Peds
The Full Kit's enclosure is undrilled. Drilling is an optional extra with a small surcharge, and when ordered it includes all the holes needed for a complete pedal.1
You will also need three knobs for the kit; Jeds Peds suggests medium sized ones.1
Buying pre built
If you would rather not solder, the Pre Built Kit is the finished option. It is listed at £39.00 GBP, has a 1 to 4 week build time, and carries a 12 month repair warranty: Jeds Peds says that should a fault develop, he will repair it. The trade off is that returns are not accepted on pre built kits.1
