The JHS Fulldrive True Boost Mod is a modification service from JHS Pedals aimed at owners of the Fulltone Fulldrive 2 overdrive. JHS describes the problem it solves plainly: "So..... You own a Fulldrive. You like the drive sound but find the boost setting to not actually be a boost." The fix is to install a JHS Mini Bomb Boost, which JHS values at $110, into the boost side of the pedal1.
What it does
The mod keeps the Fulldrive's drive circuit as the player already knows it and replaces the boost side with the circuit of the Mini Bomb Boost, a standalone boost pedal from JHS. According to JHS, the mod "works on ALL VERSIONS of the Full Drive 2", so an owner does not need to check which production run their pedal came from before sending it in1.
For a player, the practical upshot is a two-in-one pedal: the Fulldrive's overdrive on one side, and a dedicated JHS boost circuit on the other, rather than the stock boost setting. JHS frames the service around players who "like the drive sound but find the boost setting to not actually be a boost"1.
