The Keeley Hooke Spring Reverb is a spring reverb and tremolo combination pedal from Keeley Electronics. Delicious Audio described it as "A spring reverb + Tremolo combination featuring three different modes," announced at a list price of $149 USD on 4 March 20181.
The three modes
Each mode changes what the pedal does to your signal1:
| Mode | What it does |
|---|---|
| Spring | Reverb only |
| Trem-Verb | Emulation of the Black Face Trem-n-Verb, combining spring reverb with tremolo |
| Fugue | All-wet spring reverb with octave up and octave down |
The Spring mode is the straightforward choice: a spring reverb with no other effect in the path1. Trem-Verb pairs the spring reverb with tremolo, modeled on the Black Face Trem-n-Verb amp, so players after that classic reverb-plus-pulse combination can get it from one pedal1. Fugue is the most unusual of the three: it is all-wet, meaning only the reverb signal is heard, and it adds an octave up and an octave down to the reverb1.
Where it sits in Keeley's range
Keeley has built several pedals that combine reverb with a second effect, including the Keeley Verb O Trem and the Keeley Zoma, a stereo reverb and tremolo pedal announced in October 2024. The Hooke's combination of spring reverb, tremolo and an octave mode gives it a distinct set of three modes within that family. Questions
What are the three modes of the Keeley Hooke Spring Reverb?
The Hooke offers Spring, Trem-Verb and Fugue modes. Spring is reverb only. Trem-Verb is an emulation of the Black Face Trem-n-Verb, pairing spring reverb with tremolo. Fugue is an all-wet spring reverb with octave up and octave down, so your dry signal is removed and only the effected reverb is heard.
How much does the Keeley Hooke Spring Reverb cost?
When the pedal was announced in March 2018, its list price was $149 USD. Prices change over time, so the current price may differ from that figure.
