The MORE Boost + Tone Enhancer is a boost pedal from LD Effects with a single knob and a single purpose: adding level without changing your sound. Pedal of the Day's reviewer, Mike B, described it as a true transparent boost that does not color your tone much even when maxed out, delivering up to 35dB of boost at its highest setting1. It is designed as an always-on pedal, the kind that stays on the board all the time rather than being kicked in for a solo.

Controls and how it works

There is one knob, and it sets the boost level. Around 9:00 on the dial, the reviewer found the MORE working as a great clean boost; cranked higher, it reaches its full 35dB1. The pedal is housed in a plain, cleanly designed enclosure with minimal controls, which suits its role as a set-and-forget volume lift in front of an amp1.

"One knob, one purpose, that's the MORE Boost + Tone Enhancer."
Mike B, Pedal of the Day1

What it sounds like

What a boost does to your sound depends on where you set it and what it feeds. In the review, at moderate settings the notes became, in the reviewer's words, super crystal-clear, with what he described as a slight push in the tube sound of his amp, giving a warm tone with the knob at 12:001. Even at maximum, he found the pedal stayed transparent rather than adding color of its own1. Players looking for a pedal that deliberately pushes an amp into overdrive territory would want a different tool; the MORE is built to stay clean.

Power options

The MORE can be run at 9V, 12V or 18V1. Higher voltage generally means more headroom, which matters for a boost that is meant to stay on all the time, but it also means your power supply needs the right outputs before you plug it in.

Running the MORE above 9V requires a power supply with isolated 12V or 18V outputs. Do not use a standard 9V daisy chain output for these voltages.

Price

At the time of the May 2015 review, the MORE carried a price of $110 shipped direct from the maker1. That figure is dated, and the current price may differ.
