The Hurt Circuit Fuzz is a fuzz pedal from Medor Amps, a builder based in Australia. Pedal of the Day described it as "one outrageous fuzz pedal": a midrange-forward, cutting and abrasive fuzz with a large amount of sustain, designed to produce feedback and buzz saw oscillation in the studio or on stage1. It sits in the wider family of Fuzz Pedals, but it is aimed at players who want the circuit to break up and oscillate rather than stay polite.
What it does
The fuzz voice itself is described by Pedal of the Day as "midrange-y, cutting and abrasive" with a ton of sustain, so it pushes into the register where a fuzz can sit over a band rather than disappear under it1. Medor Amps designed the pedal to give what the review called "glorious feedback and buzz saw oscillation", meaning it is built to be driven into self-oscillation and controlled feedback, whether the player is recording or playing live1.
Controls and layout
The pedal keeps its controls simple and puts its flexibility in the switching.
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Channel One Volume | Controls the output volume1 |
| Toggle switch | Selects one of three distinct tonal modes: Down, Up, Middle1 |
| Two footswitches | Give access to two differing sounds1 |
The two-footswitch arrangement is the unusual part. Instead of one bypass switch, the Hurt Circuit Fuzz uses two footswitches so a player can reach two different sounds during a set1.
Enclosure sizes
The pedal is available in two versions: a big vintage box enclosure or a smaller size1. The size difference matters in practice, because the large enclosure is not a straightforward fit for a pedalboard.
Pedal of the Day's reviewer pointed out that, because of its huge size, the big-enclosure version is not pedalboard friendly1. Players who mount everything on a board would need the smaller enclosure or a spot on the floor.
