The ModTone Coliseum Reverb is a compact reverb pedal with three modes: Room, Spring, and Grand Hall, chosen with a mini toggle switch. It keeps its controls to just two knobs, Level and Tone, and it was announced in September 2011 as the newest addition to the ModTone effect line12.
Controls and modes
The pedal is deliberately simple. There are just two knobs, Level and Tone, plus the mini toggle that selects Room, Spring, or Grand Hall1. Level sets the reverb level, and Tone shapes the character of the reverb itself1. That is the whole control surface, which makes it a set-and-forget pedal rather than one for deep editing.
Design and build
The Coliseum Reverb is housed in a small MXR-style brushed aluminum chassis, which Premier Guitar noted will fit even the most real estate-challenged pedalboard1. Guitar World reported that it is built to the same specifications as the rest of the ModTone line, with a metal chassis and true-bypass switching2.
What reviewers said
Premier Guitar's reviewer found the pedal sweet and authentic sounding across a wide range, and gave it a strong overall verdict1:
"The Coliseum is an excellent reverb pedal that could be the perfect complement to a reverb-less vintage amp or take the [place of a lackluster amp reverb]."
The same review ranked it among the best bang-for-the-buck reverbs available today1.

Questions
What reverb types does the ModTone Coliseum Reverb have?
It offers three reverb modes, selected with a mini toggle switch: Room, Spring, and Grand Hall. Room and Spring cover the everyday territory of a small room and a spring tank, while Grand Hall gives a larger, more spacious setting. Only two knobs, Level and Tone, shape the sound, so the pedal is built for quick changes rather than deep editing.
Is the ModTone Coliseum Reverb true bypass?
Yes. Guitar World reported that the pedal is built to the same specifications as the rest of the ModTone line, with a metal chassis and true-bypass switching, meaning the pedal is removed from the signal path when it is off.
How much does the ModTone Coliseum Reverb cost?
Premier Guitar listed a street price of $129 in its August 2021 review of the pedal.
