The Molten Voltage MIDI Splitty is a pedalboard MIDI splitter and repeater. It is designed to amplify, buffer and repeat MIDI signals, which matters on a large board where long cable runs and several MIDI devices can weaken the signal coming from a single controller. One MIDI input goes in, and multiple buffered MIDI outputs carry the signal out to the rest of the rig1.

What it does

The Splitty takes the MIDI output of any controller and repeats it to several devices at once. Molten Voltage describes the outputs as "well-buffered and ultra-solid MIDI outputs", three on the 1 IN 3 THRU version and four on the 1 IN 4 THRU version1. Because the unit amplifies and buffers the signal, it is aimed at extended cable runs and boards with multiple MIDI devices, where a plain passive split can become unreliable1.

"MIDI SPLITTY is compatible with all MIDI controllers and comes in [1 IN 3 THRU] and [1 IN 4 THRU] versions."

Construction and status

The unit uses metal jacks, and Molten Voltage notes that these require hand-wiring of the whole MIDI Splitty1. The company's own manuals identify it as the "MIDI SPLITTY - Pedalboard MIDI Splitter/Repeater"2, and it appears alongside other Molten Voltage MIDI utilities such as the Molten MIDI T and the MIDI Delaytion controller3.

Molten Voltage lists the MIDI Splitty as discontinued, and directs players to a new Step Audio 1 IN 6 THRU version of the MIDI Splitty1.

Questions

Is the Molten Voltage MIDI Splitty still available?

No. Molten Voltage lists the MIDI Splitty as discontinued on its product page, and points players toward a new Step Audio 1 IN 6 THRU version of the MIDI Splitty instead. The original units came in 1 IN 3 THRU and 1 IN 4 THRU configurations, each taking one MIDI input and distributing it to multiple buffered MIDI outputs for pedalboards with several MIDI devices.
