The Moskyaudio SUPER DELAY is a compact delay pedal for guitar and bass, with true bypass switching and four modulation modes. Moskyaudio states that it is based on the Keeley Caverns delay and incorporates the Magnetic Echo circuit, which is designed to emulate analog tape delay lines. The maker describes the result as "Keeley's analog-style tape delay with modulation options"1. It sits in the same small-pedal family as the Mosky Magnetic Delay, the Mosky Blue Delay and the Mosky SPINDRIFT, and it is one of many designs covered on the Delay Pedals type page.
The controls
The Super Delay keeps things to four knobs, each doing double duty between the delay and the modulation side of the circuit1:
| Knob | What it does |
|---|---|
| TIME | Delay time, 30 to 650 ms |
| REPEATS | Delay repeats, that is feedback |
| RATE | Delay rate, that is modulation rate |
| BLEND | Delay blend, from 0 to 50/50 |
Alongside the knobs sits a four-mode modulation selection knob with the positions NO MODULATION, SOFT MODULATION, MIDDLE MODULATION and HEAVY MODULATION, so the repeats can run dry or carry anything from a light wobble to a pronounced sweep1.
Sound and use
Moskyaudio's own description of the voicing is that "Perfectly voiced echoes sit well in the mix, either clean or with distortion"1. The blend control is central to that: at 0 the delay is out of the signal entirely, and at 50/50 the wet and dry signals are level, so you can tuck the repeats behind your playing or bring them up to match it1.
Power and size
The pedal runs on 9V DC, center negative, through a 2.1 mm x 5.5 mm connector, the standard pedalboard supply format1. Moskyaudio lists the dimensions as 11.5 x 6.5 x 5 cm and the weight as 320 g1.
