Mythos Pedals Big Puft

The Mythos Big Puft Fuzz Device is a fuzz pedal from Mythos Pedals, offered in olive and yellow versions. Mythos describes it as inspired by the iconic BMP circuit, the Electro-Harmonix Big Muff lineage, but says the Puft is "sort of an amalgam of our favorite sounds that style pedal has offered" rather than a copy of any single version¹. On That Pedal Show, Mick took the name as a nod to the Electro-Harmonix Big Muff².

What it does

The Big Puft sits in the Big Muff tradition: a sustain-heavy fuzz voice that players know from decades of muff-style pedals. What Mythos says sets it apart is that it gathers the sounds the maker liked from that whole family of circuits into one pedal, instead of recreating one era of the original¹.

On the board

Mythos lists quality top mount panel jacks, so input and output connections sit on the top edge of the enclosure rather than the sides, which can make a pedalboard easier to lay out¹³.

That Pedal Show demoed the Big Puft in an episode that also covered the Cornerstone Nucleo Reverb, the TWA Source Code, the Dinosaural Hypoid Drive and the Electro-Harmonix Pico Swello². The hosts found a large amount of output volume compared to some muffs, with Mick noting "bags of variance in all the controls. Absolutely tons of output"². On the voice of the pedal, Mick asked, "Whatever you've done to the mid-range, Zach", with the hosts finding the mid-range appealing where typical muffs can come across as too bassy, middly or sustainy².

The Stay Puft sounds begin at 17:28 in the episode, if a player wants to hear the pedal on its own⁴.

Where it sits in the Mythos range
