The Ascension Octave Fuzz is an octave fuzz pedal from ProAnalog Devices, an Indiana based boutique manufacturer. It generates an octave up signal and pushes it through a fuzz circuit, covering what the maker describes as everything "from a clean octave up, to thick, heavy, feedbacking octave fuzz," while the pedal "retains a clarity not heard in other pedals."1
It sits in the wider family of fuzz pedals that also produce an octave up note, and it sits alongside other ProAnalog designs such as the MkII Fuzz V2.
What it does
The Ascension's defining feature is its octave up tracking. According to the maker, "Ascension's octave up tracks from the first fret, to the highest fret, and everywhere in between," meaning the octave note holds up wherever you play on the neck rather than dropping out in some positions.1
The pedal was introduced as a new product in a demo posted by Delicious Audio, in which Mike Hermans introduced it.1
The controls
The Ascension has four knobs, each with a distinct job:
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Swell | Volume1 |
| Attack | Lets you control the amount of signal going into the octave up fuzz circuit1 |
| Peak | EQ knob that allows you to intuitively control the apex of the octave up, from the bassiest to the brightest setting1 |
| Boost | Dynamic Boost that adds girth, body, thickness, sustain, and fuzz1 |
The Attack control is the key to how much octave effect you hear, since it sets how much signal reaches the octave up fuzz circuit. The Peak control then shapes the tonal balance of that octave, and the Boost adds weight and sustain on top.1

Questions
What does the Ascension Octave Fuzz do?
It is an octave fuzz pedal that generates an octave up signal and runs it through a fuzz circuit. According to the maker, the octave up tracks from the first fret to the highest fret, and the pedal covers a range from a clean octave up tone to thick, heavy, feedbacking octave fuzz while retaining clarity.
What do the controls on the Ascension do?
The pedal has four controls. Swell is the volume. Attack controls the amount of signal going into the octave up fuzz circuit. Peak is an EQ knob that controls the apex of the octave up, from the bassiest to the brightest setting. Boost is a dynamic boost that adds girth, body, thickness, sustain and fuzz.
