The Time-O-Lite Fuzz is a limited collaboration between R2R Electric and Waterslide Guitars: a Fuzz Face style fuzz built inside the enclosures of vintage Industrial Timers Time-O-Lite Master Dark Room Exposure Timers, the desktop units photographers once used to time prints under an enlarger. R2R fully adapted the original enclosure, so the timer's two timing controls now work as Volume and Fuzz knobs, and the former left-hand toggle has been replaced by a faceted Crystal LED. The right-hand switch was already a stompbox style push switch, probably replaced with a newer variant1.
Circuit and controls
Guitar Pedal X's Stefan Karlsson described the pedal as "a really striking take on the Arbiter Fuzz Face", the two-transistor germanium design that shaped most classic fuzz tones. The Time-O-Lite carries Mullard / Philips Black Glass Bulb AC107 germanium transistors onboard, which he called "killer"1. Because the circuit follows the Fuzz Face layout, the two controls are simple: one for Fuzz and one for Volume, taking over from the timer's original timing knobs1.
Two batches and resale prices
The pedals were assembled in two batches of circa 25 each, with the first batch in 2025. All are long since sold, and some have been resold since: Karlsson noted that at least one second-batch unit later sold on for nigh $850 on Reverb.com1.
Both batches are sold out. Anyone looking for one now is looking at the secondhand market, where at least one unit changed hands for close to $8501.
What reviewers said
Karlsson's verdict was positive: "Props to R2R and Waterslide in any case for a brilliant execution - and congratulations to everyone who managed to snag" one1.
