The Revv Tilt Boost is a compact boost pedal from REVV Amplification, the Canadian amp and pedal maker. REVV describes it as an all-analog clean boost, dynamic equalizer and light overdrive, built around a single Tilt EQ knob that shapes bass and treble together. It delivers up to 20 dB of clean boost, enough to push an amp into natural saturation or simply add always-on presence to a rig1.
The pedal is essentially the boost side of the Shawn Tubbs Tilt Overdrive, pulled out into its own enclosure. Guitar World's Paul Riario called it "the extracted boost portion of the Shawn Tubbs Tilt Overdrive, but with additional" range, and gearnews reported it at launch as Shawn Tubbs' signature pedal with an MSRP of USD 16923. It was introduced at NAMM 20234.
The controls
The front panel keeps things to one knob and two toggles1.
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Boost knob | Adjusts output level, up to +20 dB of clean boost12 |
| Tilt EQ knob | A single-knob pivot EQ: clockwise adds low-end warmth and rolls off the highs; counterclockwise boosts treble and trims bass for cutting clarity5 |
| Tight toggle | 3-position switch working as a highpass filter, slicing off subsonic frequencies so fast palm-muted rhythms stay articulate1 |
| Drive toggle | 2-position switch that adds the same overdrive from the Tilt Overdrive, turning the pedal from a clean boost into a touch-sensitive, amp-like drive12 |
The Tilt EQ is the heart of the pedal. REVV describes it as a versatile single-knob pivot equalizer, inspired by the Baxandall tone curve but engineered for guitar1. Where a graphic EQ pedal gives you separate sliders for each band, a tilt EQ moves the two ends of the spectrum in opposite directions from one control, which makes it fast for dialing a rig brighter or warmer on the fly. Guitar World's review found the Tilt EQ control "simultaneously attenuates bass and treble frequencies by adding more fullness and low-end clarity wh"ile cutting high end clockwise, and introducing chime and brightness counterclockwise2.
The Drive switch is what separates the Tilt Boost from a plain volume boost. In one position it is a clean boost; in the other it engages touch-sensitive clipping that Guitar World described as a fat, medium-gain overdrive2. The Tight switch then gives you control over how much low end feeds that drive, a feature REVV also uses on the Tilt Overdrive's boost section6.
Taken from the Shawn Tubbs Tilt Overdrive
The Tilt Boost is a descendant of the Shawn Tubbs Tilt Overdrive, a two-section overdrive pedal that came out of a collaboration between REVV and Nashville session player Shawn Tubbs, first shown at NAMM 2022372. That pedal combines a medium-gain overdrive with a clean boost: the drive side has Gain, Volume, Bass and Treble controls, while the boost side carries a Boost Level control, the Tilt EQ and a 3-position Tight toggle68. The two sections can be engaged individually or stacked together9.
The Tilt Boost takes the boost half of that circuit and stands it on its own. gearnews put it plainly: "Essentially the REVV Tilt Boost is just the boost side of Shawn Tubbs' Signature Series Tilt Overdrive pedal"3. Guitar Pedal X called it "A really clever extraction and enhancement of the killer Tilt Boost side from the Signature Shawn Tubbs Tilt Overdrive"10. The main change is the boost range: the Tilt Overdrive's dedicated boost circuit provides up to 12 dB of high-headroom volume boosting9, while the Tilt Boost offers up to 20 dB1.
Shawn Tubbs describes the Tilt Boost as a means to "wake up" your existing rig2, and gearnews noted the pedal is described as an always-on effect3.
| Tilt Boost | Shawn Tubbs Tilt Overdrive | |
|---|---|---|
| Format | Single boost pedal with Drive switch | Two-section overdrive and boost pedal9 |
| Boost range | Up to +20 dB1 | Up to 12 dB9 |
| EQ | Tilt EQ knob1 | Tilt EQ on boost side; Bass and Treble on drive side6 |
| Overdrive | Optional, via 2-position Drive switch1 | Full drive side with Gain, Volume, Bass, Treble6 |
| Sections | One, switchable | Two, usable individually or stacked9 |
What reviewers said
Guitar World's Paul Riario reviewed the Tilt Boost and summed up its appeal211:
"The Revv Amplification Tilt Boost is essential for incrementally sculpting your boosted tones with clarity"uot;always-on" tone-shaping pedal, with touch-sensitivity and punch overall2
Guitar World's best EQ pedals feature echoed that verdict, calling the pedal essential for incrementally sculpting boosted tones with clarity, or as an always-on tone-shaping pedal that enhances any rig with touch-sensitivity and punch11. Delicious Audio described it as providing up to 20 dB of organic level with an intuitive Tilt EQ control, in a miniature all-analog format made in Canada with a charcoal black powder-coated matte metallic finish4.
Reviews of the parent Tilt Overdrive were also positive. Premier Guitar found it "combines a robust medium-gain overdrive with a nuanced clean boost", and singled out the tilt EQ as the standout feature on the boost side, simultaneously affecting the lows and highs depending on which direction you turn it12. Pedal of the Day offered congratulations "to Revv and Mr. Tubbs on a masterful overdrive and boost pedal creation"13.
The Tilt Boost runs on a 9V to 12V center negative external power supply only, drawing about 18 mA. There is no battery option, so plan for a pedalboard power supply rather than a daisy chain with mixed polarity pedals52.

Questions
How much boost does the Revv Tilt Boost give?
Up to 20 dB of clean boost, according to REVV's product page and Guitar World's review. That is more than the 12 dB boost circuit in the Shawn Tubbs Tilt Overdrive it was extracted from, and it is described as transparent and high-headroom rather than colored.
Is the Revv Tilt Boost true bypass?
Yes. REVV lists true bypass with silent relay switching, and Guitar World's review confirms the pedal is true-bypass. The relay switching means engaging or bypassing the effect happens without an audible click or pop.
What does a tilt EQ do?
A tilt EQ moves bass and treble in opposite directions from one knob. Turn it clockwise and you add low-end warmth while rolling off the highs; turn it counterclockwise and treble is boosted while bass is trimmed. REVV says its version is inspired by the Baxandall tone curve but engineered for guitar.
Does the Tilt Boost run on a battery?
No. It runs on a 9V to 12V center negative external power supply only, drawing about 18 mA. There is no battery option, so it needs a spot on a pedalboard power supply.
What is the difference between the Tilt Boost and the Tilt Overdrive?
The Tilt Boost is the boost side of the Shawn Tubbs Tilt Overdrive extracted into its own pedal, with the boost range raised to 20 dB. The Tilt Overdrive is a two-section pedal with a full overdrive side carrying Gain, Volume, Bass and Treble controls plus the boost; the Tilt Boost adds a Drive switch that brings in the same overdrive in a simpler format.
