What the Nebula does
Spaceman calls the Nebula "a fully blendable, multi-function tone manipulator, allowing for the discovery of unique layered tones"2. The core is a dual-mode IC fuzz circuit, and the octave and dry layers can be blended in independently and simultaneously, which is what lets the pedal move between subtle harmonic thickening and full layered octave fuzz1. The three-shape Spectrum control then shapes the overall tone, which Spaceman says gives you "the power to fine tune your tone to perfection"1.
The maker also points the pedal beyond guitar: "Such flexibility makes the Nebula a great companion for bass and synth instruments, in addition to guitar"2. The blendable clean layer is the practical reason: keeping dry signal under the fuzz and octave layers helps bass and synth parts stay defined.
Limited editions and hand-built construction
The Nebula is built in small, signed and numbered runs. Spaceman states that "each pedal is signed and numbered on the inside, with hand hammered number tag on the enclosure"1, and that the circuits are "fully hand-wired and hand soldered circuits to the original spec"1.
