Strymon teased a brand new space-themed pedal in September 2020, which it said it planned to unveil on Thursday 17 September 2020 at 8pm PT via Facebook Live. At the time of the teaser the pedal had not been revealed: no name, no price and no specifications had been announced, only a series of teaser images and the guesses players and writers drew from them1.
What the teaser showed
Three teaser images were posted in the run-up to the reveal. The most recent was shared on 14 September 2020, showing the pedal itself in the dark with its LEDs lit1.
From that latest image, Guitar.com's Daniel Seah drew out what the silhouette suggested:
- The pedal will be housed in the larger of Strymon's usual enclosures.
- It will feature multiple ins-and-outs, which are likely to be stereo inputs and outputs and perhaps an expression input.
- It is likely to have three footswitches, if it follows other large-enclosure Strymon devices.
- Eight lights positioned in the center hint at the presence of a step sequencer on the pedal1.
What players guessed it might be
The space theme set off speculation among fans. The starry night sky image led many to link the pedal to the name of the "Sky" range of reverb pedals, and the blue tint of the images to the BlueSky and BigSky. That would put the new pedal in the same family as Strymon's reverbs, though at the teaser stage this remained speculation rather than anything the company had confirmed1.

Where it stood
As of the teaser coverage, the pedal was exactly that: teased, not yet revealed, with the company pointing players to its Facebook Live event on 17 September 2020 at 8pm PT for the unveiling1. Strymon's later reverb line, including the BigSky MX, NightSky and Cloudburst, shows where the company's reverb designs went in the years after.
