The Subdecay Prometheus V2 is an analog envelope filter pedal from Subdecay. RockBoard's PedalPedia lists it as an "ENVELOPE FILTER WAH SEQUENCER", meaning it covers three related jobs in one box: it can follow your playing dynamics like an envelope filter, sweep like a wah, and step through patterns like a sequencer1. Because the circuit is analog, it processes your signal without conversion to digital1.
Power and practicalities
The Prometheus V2 runs on 9V DC with a center negative plug, the standard pedalboard supply, and draws 15mA1. That current draw is low enough that it sits comfortably alongside typical pedals on a shared supply.
Where it sits in Subdecay's filter range
Subdecay has continued the Prometheus name with later designs that a player comparing filters should know about:
- The Prometheus 3 Dual Super Filter is a "Dual Super Filter inspired by the MS-20", and like the Korg MS-20 synthesizer "these filters are controlled separately"23. Subdecay's Brian Marshall has also noted that "The Prometheus 3 also can get very synthy with its built in octave down envelope"4.
- The Prometheus DLX is a resonant filter covering several modes: "Autowah, envelope filter, step filter, random sample/hold filter, even a pixelated envelope filter"5.
So the V2 is the analog envelope filter, wah and sequencer in that line, while the Prometheus 3 takes a dual-filter, MS-20-inspired approach and the DLX offers a wider set of filter modes125.
