The sushiboxfx SBVT II is an analog preamp and DI pedal built around the preamp of the Ampeg SVT, the bass amplifier the maker calls legendary. As the name suggests, the pedal is based on that amp's preamp circuit, putting the SVT's tone-shaping controls on a pedalboard instead of in a head1. It sits in the preamp category alongside other preamp pedals, and its built-in DI makes it a practical end-of-chain box for bass players, a use covered more broadly on the bass pedals page.
What it does
The SBVT II carries over two signature features of the original SVT: Ultra Hi and Ultra Low switches, which extend the pedal's highs and lows in the same way the amp's switches do1. The mids-frequency selector has been expanded to an 8-position switch, up from the original 5-position design, giving greater flexibility when choosing the center frequency of the mids control1.
For playing out or recording, a balanced XLR D.I. output was added, so the pedal can deliver your tone straight to front of house or to a recording interface1.

Power
The pedal runs on 9V DC, center negative, and draws 900mA1. That current draw is high for a single pedal, so it is worth checking against what your power supply can deliver per output before adding it to a board.
