What it does
The Pi Fuzz covers a wide tonal range. Pedal of the Day's reviewer heard everything "from a slight distorted fuzz tone to full-on buzzsawville," with long sustain across that range1. In practice that means the pedal can sit at the milder end as a slightly broken-up fuzz, or be pushed into an aggressive, saturated buzz that holds notes.
"The Sustain on the Pi is incredible, it just soars and keeps on soaring for days."
Controls
The pedal keeps its layout simple, built around a Sustain knob:
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Sustain | Sets the amount of sustain; at high settings chords and individual notes ring out into an almost self-oscillating pattern1 |
The simple layout is part of the pedal's character. The reviewer noted "the simplicity of the layout and stunning blue graphics suck you in right away," so the enclosure carries blue graphics alongside its minimal control set1.
On the board
Pedal of the Day's reviewer found the Pi Fuzz works well with both humbucker and single-coil pickups, which he said makes it "a great tool for any pedalboard"1. That pickup flexibility matters if you switch guitars often: the pedal responds consistently either way rather than favoring one pickup type.
