The ThorpyFX Chris Buck signature Electric Lightning Plexi-style Tube Preamp + Boost is a tube-equipped, two-section pedal made as a signature pedal for guitarist Chris Buck, listed at £429 / $5351. Guitar Pedal X's Stefan Karlsson, writing in a 2024 buying guide, called it "A fantastic Tube Preamp take on the Marshall Plexi - made as a signature pedal for Chris Buck - with all the touch sensi[tivity]"1. It sits in ThorpyFX's drive and boost line alongside pedals like the ThorpyFX Heavy Water and The Dane, and a later Electric Lightning Maud NOS Edition followed.
Controls
The pedal is laid out in two sections, each with its own set of controls1:
| Section | Controls |
|---|---|
| MAIN | Volume, Treble, Mids, Gain, Bass |
| ACTIVE HIGH PASS FILTER / BOOST | Boost, Lows |
The MAIN section carries the Plexi-style preamp voicing, with gain, volume and a three-band EQ covering treble, mids and bass. The second section is an active high pass filter and boost, giving the player control over the boost amount and the low end via the Lows control1.
