The TomKat Super Heavy, sold as the Super Heavy Reverb, is a stereo digital reverb pedal from TomKat pedals that builds delay and drive into the same chain. Delicious Audio's Paolo De Gregorio calls it "a rather complex stereo digital delay>drive>reverb device," with the reverb as the heart of the circuit: "The reverb is the most important and therefore tweakable effect in this circuit"1. Guitar Pedal X's Stefan Karlsson, reviewing it in December 2024, described it as "a really unique and unusual Super Massive Blackhole style Reverberator with Delay and Drive / Saturation too"2.
What it does
The pedal places three effects in series: delay, then drive, then reverb. Each of the three has its own Mix control, so a player can dial how much of each stage feeds the chain1. Karlsson characterizes the reverb side as a "Super Massive Blackhole style" ambience, the kind of deep, swelling wash associated with ambient and shoegaze playing, with the drive and saturation available to push it32. The name, he reports, comes from SpaceX's Super Heavy First Stage Booster Rocket3.
The four control clusters
The control layout is grouped into four color-coded clusters, selected and adjusted around a central dial. Karlsson lists them as White (Universal), Magenta (Reverb), Amber (Delay) and Red (Drive)3. The White Universal cluster holds the chain-level controls:
| White (Universal) cluster | Control |
|---|---|
| 1 | Input Gain |
| 2 | Chain Mix |
| 3 | Delay Mix |
| 4 | Drive Mix |
| 5 | Drive Amnt |
| 6 | Reverb Mix |
| 7 | Output Gain |
That gives the player a single set of master controls for the whole chain, plus separate mix levels for each effect stage, while the Magenta, Amber and Red clusters reach the deeper reverb, delay and drive parameters312.
Footswitches and connections
Two footswitches sit at the front. The right one engages and disengages the pedal as usual. The left one activates an Infinite Freeze or Pads function: De Gregorio notes that "such a pedal couldn't miss a momentary Freeze funcion, triggered by the left footswitch," which freezes the wet signal so a chord or note hangs indefinitely under the player's hands31.
The rear panel carries five jacks and sockets: Left In, Right In, Left Out, Right Out, and the 9V DC center negative power input. Karlsson lists the current draw as 350mA but marked it with a question mark in his review, so treat that figure as unconfirmed3.
With a listed draw of around 350mA at 9V DC, the Super Heavy Reverb is beyond what a battery or a low-current daisy-chain output can comfortably supply. Use a dedicated higher-current outlet on an isolated supply3.
Where it came from
The Super Heavy Reverb was announced in December 2024 and was available for orders on the TomKat webstore at launch3. It followed the Cloudy Digital Multi Effect, which Karlsson described as Tom Kogut's first new pedal in around six years3. In Guitar Pedal X's year-end roundup of spatial and time-based effects, the Super Heavy Reverb appeared among the 2024 picks, listed at $3502.

Questions
Is the Tomkat Super Heavy Reverb stereo?
Yes. Delicious Audio describes the Super Heavy as a stereo digital delay, drive and reverb device, and Guitar Pedal X notes stereo in and out on the rear panel, with Left In, Right In, Left Out and Right Out jacks alongside the power socket.
What does the left footswitch do on the Super Heavy Reverb?
The left footswitch activates an Infinite Freeze or Pads function, which freezes the wet signal for ambient washes and pad-like sounds. The right footswitch is the standard one that engages and disengages the pedal.
What power does the Tomkat Super Heavy Reverb need?
The pedal runs on 9V DC center negative. Guitar Pedal X lists a current draw of around 350mA, though the reviewer marked that figure with a question mark, so it is not confirmed. A supply capable of a generous current output is the safe choice.
How much does the Tomkat Super Heavy Reverb cost?
Guitar Pedal X listed the Super Heavy Reverb at $350 in the United States when it launched in December 2024, with European pricing of €338 and UK pricing of £279.
Why is it called Super Heavy?
Guitar Pedal X reports that the pedal is named after SpaceX's Super Heavy First Stage Booster Rocket, in keeping with its very large reverb character.
Who designs Tomkat Pedals?
TomKat pedals is the work of Tom Kogut. The Super Heavy Reverb followed the Cloudy Digital Multi Effect, which Guitar Pedal X described as his first new pedal in around six years.
