The Zoom G3X is a digital guitar multi-effects processor and amp simulator that puts a full rig in a pedalboard format. Zoom built it to combine amplifier and cabinet modeling with a broad selection of effects, a built-in expression pedal, and USB audio interface capabilities, so a player can carry one unit instead of a board of separate pedals and an amp1.
What it does
The G3X is a multi-effects pedal: instead of one effect per box, it models amplifiers and cabinets and chains effects digitally, all controlled from the pedalboard-style unit on the floor. What that covers1:

- A broad selection of effects in one unit1
- A built-in expression pedal for foot control of parameters such as volume or wah, instead of a separate expression pedal on the board1
- USB audio interface capability, so the same unit that handles live effects can feed a computer for recording1
- A balanced XLR output for plugging straight into a mixing desk or PA, useful for going direct without an amp1
Power is flexible: it runs from batteries, an AC adapter, or USB bus power1. Its power connector is 9V DC, center negative, and it draws 500mA1.
At 500mA, the G3X draws more current than most single analog pedals. A small battery-style supply or a daisy chain output rated for a few tens of milliamps will not run it; use the adapter, USB power, or a supply rated for the full draw.
