Onboard bass preamps
The heart of the Lusithand range is a family of onboard preamps built around the EQ of the GK800RB amplifier. The 800BM borrows that EQ section and fits it inside a bass, with a Contour switch providing a V-shaped EQ pre-shape1. It is compatible with both passive and active pickups1, and the preamp is set for approximate unity gain, with a Gain trimpot allowing a little boost on the overall audio signal8.
The 800BMF is a full version of the 800BM2, built as a dual stacked preamp with Active Blend and Master Volume2. Its circuit is made lower impedance throughout for quieter operation2. The 800JP Jazzplate, previously sold as the 800TS, follows the same idea, borrowing the GK800RB EQ section in an onboard preamp with the same Contour switch EQ pre-shape79.
| Preamp | What it is | Key features |
|---|---|---|
| 800BM | Onboard preamp based on the GK800RB EQ | Contour switch (V EQ pre-shape), passive and active pickup compatibility, Gain trimpot18 |
| 800BMF | Full version of the 800BM | Dual stacked preamp, Active Blend, Master Volume, lower impedance throughout32 |
| 800JP Jazzplate | Onboard preamp, formerly the 800TS | GK800RB EQ section, Contour switch, solderless install79 |
All Lusithand preamps are solderless, so installation does not require soldering7.
Filter preamps: the NFP family
Alongside the GK-style preamps, Lusithand makes the NFP (Neutron Filter Preamp) family. The Single NFP is a filter preamp like the ones seen on basses from Alembic and Wal5, and the Double NFP is also offered as part of the range10. A Single NFP Special version is also offered6, with its own manual64, as is the NFP Preamp push-pull version4.
Pedals
Lusithand also builds pedals, aimed largely at bass players:
- Ground & Pound MKII: a bass preamp and overdrive/distortion pedal3
- F1 Studio Filter Preamp: a filter preamp pedal usable as an effect or a utility tool, in the studio or live, with both bass and guitar11
- Alma Comp MK3: a compressor pedal12
RockBoard's PedalPedia describes the Lusithand Devices F1 Studio Filter Preamp as "a sophisticated tone-sculpting tool"13.
"The Lusithand Devices F1 Studio Filter Preamp is a sophisticated tone-sculpting tool"
Warranty and support
Lusithand covers its products with a warranty valid for 2 years after the date of purchase, stated in the manuals for the 800BM, 800BMF, 800JP, NFP-Special and NFP preamps289144. The company's product pages put it more broadly: any product will be replaced or fixed with all expenses covered once it has been verified that the problem is not the result of bad handling or negligence by the owner. Damage due to negligence voids the warranty, repair costs can occur, and shipping is not covered12.
The 2-year warranty applies from the date of purchase. Negligence voids it: in that case repair costs can occur and shipping is not covered12.
For support, Lusithand gives the contact address nuno@lusithanddevices.com on its product pages and in its manuals14151.

Questions
What is the Lusithand Devices 800BM preamp?
The 800BM is an onboard preamp that takes the EQ section of the GK800RB bass amplifier and fits it inside a bass. It has a Contour switch for a V-shaped EQ pre-shape, works with passive and active pickups, and is set for approximate unity gain with a Gain trimpot for a small overall boost.
What is the difference between the 800BM and 800BMF?
The 800BMF is a full version of the 800BM preamp. Both borrow the EQ section of the GK800RB amplifier, but the 800BMF is a dual stacked preamp with Active Blend and Master Volume, and its circuit is made lower impedance throughout for quieter operation.
Does Lusithand Devices make bass pedals?
Yes. Alongside its onboard preamps, Lusithand makes pedals including the Ground & Pound MKII, a bass preamp and overdrive/distortion pedal, the F1 Studio Filter Preamp, and the Alma Comp MK3 compressor pedal.
What is the Lusithand Ground & Pound MKII?
The Ground & Pound MKII is a pedal that combines a bass preamp with overdrive and distortion. It sits in the pedal category of the Lusithand range rather than being an onboard installation.
How do I contact Lusithand Devices?
Lusithand Devices gives its contact email as nuno@lusithanddevices.com, listed on its product pages and in its manuals. The company covers its products with a warranty valid for 2 years after the date of purchase.
