Electronic Audio Experiments releases 0xEAE Bass Driver V1

April 1, 2025 · 1 sources

Electronic Audio Experiments released the V1 of the 0xEAE Bass Driver in April 2025, according to the maker's changelog, which lists "V1 (April 2025): initial release." The pedal is the third and final installment of a collaborative form factor with Obstructures, the maker says.

The company describes the circuit as built on an homage to a vintage Canadian bass amplifier, with a gain control spanning a 50dB range. The tone controls are designed to emphasize the attack of a picked bass, and the maker says the pedal reaches deep low frequency extension without the feel of a traditional clean blend. An internal switch activates a notch filter centered at 750Hz, disabled by default, which the maker says can suit ampless setups or running direct into a power amp.

Controls are Volume, Drive, Bass and Attack, plus a footswitch. The maker lists the Drive control at approximately 50dB maximum passband gain and the Bass control as a post-clipping low frequency shelf boost of up to +14dB at 100Hz and below. Attack adjusts frequencies above 1kHz.

"The Obstructures x EAE Bass Driver completes a trifecta of neo-brutalist gain devices executed with precision and brawn."

Specifications as listed by the maker:

SpecValue
BypassSoft-touch relay switching with op amp buffered bypass
Input impedance @ 1 kHz2.2MΩ
Output impedance @ 1 kHz<1kΩ
Power9V DC, center negative, <65mA at idle
Dimensions6.75" x 3.5" x 2"

The maker recommends a regulated, isolated power supply rated for 200 mA minimum and says the power input is protected against reverse polarity and over-voltage. The pedals do not accept batteries. The maker says this iteration was produced in a finite quantity and that it intends to manufacture the circuit in a new form at a later date. No price was given in the archived page.
