Aclam launches Go Rocky Go, a Vox Conqueror preamp pedal

Aclam launched the Go Rocky Go on March 7, 2025, the third in its series of pedals aimed at recreating Beatles guitar sounds¹². The preamp pedal is a replica of the Brilliant channel of the company's own Vox Conqueror, serial number 2004³.

The Conqueror was part of a solid-state Vox series released in 1967 that also included the Defiant and Supreme³. Aclam says it bought its unit in 2017 while searching for a UL730, then restored it, measured every component and traced the circuit boards³. The pedal reproduces the amp's M.R.B. (Mid-Range Resonant Boost) and its built-in distortion, with additions for live use: a dedicated distortion volume, silent switching in place of the original's pops, and a Crunch Mode that sits between the clean and distorted sounds³. Crunch Mode is engaged by holding the Bypass footswitch for 1.5 seconds, which turns the bypass LED blue³¹. Pressing both footswitches together activates the M.R.B.³.

Controls are Volume, Attack-Sustain, a three-position M.R.B. selector (approximately 500 Hz, 700 Hz and 1 kHz), Treble, Bass and Dist. Vol, plus an internal Crunch Gain trimmer set to maximum at the factory³. The pedal runs on 9VDC to 18VDC with roughly 25mA current draw, uses relay true bypass, and measures 13,6 x 8,7 x 5,5cm (5.4 x 3.4 x 2.2 inches) with knobs at 422,6g (0.93 lbs)³. It is made in Spain and covered by a two-year warranty³. MusicRadar reports it is available to order now¹. Prices differ between reports: Premier Guitar cites $348⁴, while Guitar World lists $351 approx².

Reviewers have weighed in. Premier Guitar called it "a ripper" and said its distortion is "snarly, nasty, and biting, but also massive," while noting that $348 is a big investment for a specialized pedal⁴. Guitar World awarded it four and a half stars and described an amp-in-a-box pedal based on a solid-state amp as a rare thing².
