Behringer releases Centaur Overdrive, a $69 Klon clone

Behringer released the Centaur Overdrive, a clone of the Klon Centaur, on November 25, 2024, at $6912. Guitar World called it "one of the most affordable you can buy" at that price1.
The pedal has controls for Gain, Treble and Output3. Its gain knob uses a dual potentiometer that Behringer describes as "an improved version of the original concentric gain control"143. The internal voltage is stepped up to 18 volts, which Behringer says allows for more headroom and "higher harmonic information"1. It has a vintage-style all-metal housing and a gold finish, and it is smaller than the original142. MusicRadar reported an output of +41dB, buffered bypass, and a current draw of 100mA from a 9V DC supply3.
Accounts differ on the diodes. Guitar World and Guitar.com describe germanium clipping diodes14; Gearnews and MusicRadar say they are soft-clipping germanium diodes, as opposed to the hard-clipping circuit of the original23.
"Simply put, you get to easily dial in your tone to get a completely clean signal or have more overdrive mixed in as you turn the knob all the way up"
The Centaur Overdrive is available to order from Behringer's partners and distributors1; MusicRadar reported it was available to pre-order at Sweetwater3, and Gearnews reported a delivery time of "several months"2. It follows Behringer's Fuzz Bender, a Tone Bender copy priced at $651.
