Butterfly Effects unveils Dobbo stereo granular delay pedal

April 7, 2025 · 2 sources

The Dobbo is the first device from Belgium's Butterfly Effects, described by Guitar Pedal X as a stereo granular delay1. The report said the first batch was sold out and a second batch was scheduled for the end of May1.

Guitar Pedal X listed the controls as Rate (grains per second, 0 to 20), Size (of grains, 10ms to 1s), Mix (percent grains), Time (delay, 0 to 5s), Pitch (two octaves down to two octaves up), Pitch Mode (Smooth, Octaves, Quantized Semitones), Space (panning and reverb), Direction (Forward, Random, Back) and Envelope (Fast Attack/Slow Release, Balanced Attack/Slot Attack/Fast Release), plus a 5s Timer and Tap (hold)1. The pedal has four presets and Bypass1.

The Dice section randomizes four parameters, with a Chance control setting the amount of random wiggle around the center and a parameter selector choosing which of Rate, Size, Time or Pitch is affected1. Ports are 9V DC [-] 300mA, EXP/MIDI, In (TS mono or TRS stereo) and Out Left and Out Right1. Guitar Pedal X described the pedal as a consistently scanning and recording microlooper with Momentary and Latching hold modes, the latter holding the last five seconds of incoming signal1.

"What makes the device truly unique is the randomisation in playback that you can achieve - particularly through the bottom ’Dice’ section."

A later Guitar. That review counted seven knobs, five switches and a single soft switch, and cited USB-C for firmware updates, high impedance stereo inputs and outputs, an expression/MIDI jack, eight onboard presets and tap tempo2. It said the pedal is roughly the same size as a Little Big Muff Pi2.
