Catalinbread announces Perseus Dio V2 octave-down fuzz

Catalinbread announced the Perseus Dio V2, an octave-down fuzz, with the pedal reported on June 6, 20241. The original Perseus came out in the mid 2010s, according to Delicious Audio1; Guitar Pedal X puts the original at around 20112.
The pedal is an all-analog circuit with a three-voice mixer section: a 1-octave down knob, a 2-octave down knob and a Dry control1. Each sub-octave voice has its own Filter knob, and the maker says the three voices individually produce a deep square-wave sound1. Guitar Pedal X lists the controls as Down 1, Dry Level, Down 2, Filter 1 and Filter 22.
| Control | Function as listed by Guitar Pedal X2 |
|---|---|
| Down 1 | -1 octave level |
| Dry Level | Dry signal level |
| Down 2 | -1 octave level |
| Filter 1 | 280Hz to 7kHz low-pass filter |
| Filter 2 | 148Hz to 7kHz low-pass filter |
Guitar Pedal X describes the circuit as a sub-octave square-wave fuzz that renders "somewhat 8-bit Nintendo sounds by default," and says the dual low-pass filters can modulate or clean up the octaves2. It notes that the original applied the -1 and -2 octaves independently, while the new version lets players combine the two or dial them out2. Delicious Audio says the Dry knob adds grit and punch to the guitar's base signal and introduces light distortion1.
The Perseus Dio was available for order from the Catalinbread webstore at $199, and Guitar Pedal X expected it at dealers soon2. Delicious Audio described it as providing "audacious guitarists with a unique synth tone for the ages"1.
"It's a pretty cool effect for sure - where possibly it needed a 6th Fuzz Gain control for full granularity."
