Catalinbread released the Wake, an eight-voice digital chorus with a sub-octave, on April 30, 2025. The pedal is listed at $199 on the Catalinbread webstore, and Guitar Pedal X reported that availability was filtering through to international dealers1.
The Wake combines an eight-voice digital chorus with a sub-octave1. According to Gearnews, the sub-octave is generated separately from the chorus in the signal path, so it does not receive the vibrato effect, and keeping it from oscillating is what makes the chorus sound deep and full2. Gearnews also reported that the pedal is digital and can handle polyphonic playing, and that it tracks flawlessly according to Andy in a video demo2.
The four controls are Octave, Rate, Mix and Depth1. Gearnews described Rate as determining the speed, Depth as setting the intensity and Mix as balancing the overall effect level, with the sub-octave added by its dedicated control2. An internal DIP switch on the circuit board switches between buffered and true bypass2.
Guitar Pedal X placed the Wake closer to softer Dream Pop than Shoegazer styles, naming Cocteau Twins, This Mortal Coil and A.R. Kane, and called it a softer, dreamier sibling to the Shoegazer-style pedals Catalinbread has brought out in recent years1.
"It's a genuinely different style of chorus - which is hugely complementary to most styles of playing - and adds relatively subtle texture - depending on how you dial things in."
The two outlets gave different prices. Guitar Pedal X reported $199 at the Catalinbread webstore1. 002.
