Champion Leccy names The Dunsh as its next pedal release

February 22, 2023 · 1 sources

Champion Leccy announced on February 22, 2023 that its next release will be a pedal called The Dunsh. The maker wrote that PCBs and enclosures had been ordered and that it was aiming for the end of April, possibly Friday April 21, with an official date to follow once details with its demo players were settled1.

The maker describes The Dunsh as an original design built around a fuller version of the transistor gain stage used in the Gett and the Bloody Gett, and later in the left side of the discontinued Canny Fettle Boost, placed between op amp stages for filtering, gain and EQ. Champion Leccy says it runs from clean boost to distortion with high output, and that the dunsh itself is a second footswitch that boosts one section of the circuit rather than working independently1.

Controls, as listed by the maker1:

ControlFunction
GainGain
BiasBias for the core transistor stage; clockwise it chokes out, and at high gain a point acts as a noise gate
B and TEQ knobs for bottom and top; noon is flat, clockwise boosts, counterclockwise cuts
B and T switchesThree positions each, marked lo, hi and mid, setting where the knob boosts or cuts
GateThree-way switch between the EQ switches that gates the signal and changes voicing; more gain means less gating
LevelOutput volume
DunshSeparate volume for the dunsh footswitch

Three internal DIP switches set low end roll off, high end roll off and dunsh intensity. The maker said more detail on setting them would come by release, and that artwork would be shown closer to the date. No price was given1.

"It's official! The next release will be the Dunsh!"
