Neural DSP anticipates CorOS 3.1.1 for Quad Cortex in June

June 1, 2025 · 1 sources

Neural DSP said on May 15, 2025 that it anticipates releasing CorOS 3.1.1 for the Quad Cortex in June. The update adds support for a new ESS audio codec, which the company says will be used in units manufactured from August 2025 after the original component was discontinued.

The codec change brings adjustments to the I/O Settings menu on units built from August 2025. Inputs 1/2 no longer display TYPE switches, with signal detected automatically on both the TS and XLR inputs. The IMPEDANCE setting affects only the TS input even when an XLR cable is connected, and PHANTOM 48V applies only to the XLR input, with the XLR signal isolated when a TS cable is connected. Neural DSP says units with the new codec reduce power consumption by up to 50%, while power requirements stay at 12V DC 3A (center negative), as marked on the chassis. The company states that audio quality and performance are not affected apart from power consumption.

CorOS 3.1.1 also carries changes for all users: a Live Tuner in Gig View, expanded LED brightness settings and Previous/Next navigation in the Scene Editor. Neural DSP says all units run the latest CorOS release, with the I/O Settings menu adapting its layout automatically, and that Cortex Control identifies the unit version on its own.

The same post looks ahead to CorOS 3.2.0, which Neural DSP says will include ports of Archetype: Cory Wong X, Parallax X and Archetype: Nolly X, plus a Metronome with settings for tempo, mode, tempo LED, volume, mute, pan, time signature, subdivisions, sound and routing. The company anticipates CorOS 3.2.0 will be released shortly after CorOS 3.1.1.
