The Death By Audio Disturbance appeared at NAMM 2023, according to Delicious Audio, which described the pedal as a "lockable LFO Modulator"1. The New York company, founded by A Place To Bury Strangers frontman Oliver Ackermann, showed the pedal at the show1.
The Disturbance has three modes (Filter, Flanger and "Fazer"), five LFO options and an extra switch for momentary effects, including LFO freeze1. Modulation is edited with the Tensity, Center Point and Width knobs1. Guitar Pedal X lists the controls as Tensity (Intensity), Wave Center Point, Width (delay-line offset), a three-way Mode switch and LFO Speed, with On and Trip/Freeze footswitches handling bypass and freezing the LFO at any point2. A CV Out jack lets the modulation control signal be sent to other devices1; Guitar Pedal X says it can match clock-speed with other devices2.
Delicious Audio describes the Filter mode as allowing deep swells and piercing resonance with highpass and lowpass options, the Flanger as offering watery, multi-tap delay matrixes or a screaming flange with distorted feedback, and the Phazer mode as an 8-stage phaser with mellow filtered scoops on one side and a combination phaser/flanger on the other1. The Tensity knob changes the feedback amount and structure of all effects, with two different intensity options for each modulation1. Guitar Pedal X reports that Ackermann describes the "-" and "+" Tensity settings as near different voicings2.
"The custom-designed modulation core lets you pause the LFO where it stands and listen to the strange world of frozen modulation."
Guitar Pedal X reported the medium-size pedal was due on the Death By Audio webstore May 25th, retailing for $2502. Delicious Audio's page carries a May 7, 2019 update date while reporting the NAMM 2023 appearance1.
