Drolo releases Kiwami dual resonant filter and modulator pedal

January 27, 2025 · 2 sources

Drolo released the Kiwami, a filter pedal that combines a bi-directional dual resonant filter with ring modulation, flanging and aliasing, according to Guitar Pedal X, which reported the release on January 27, 20251. The first batch sold out quickly1.

The pedal has two resonant bandpass filters, each sweeping in the opposite direction from the other. They can be used separately or combined, which the maker says gives the filter a vocal, vowelly quality. The filters can be modulated by an LFO, an envelope follower, set manually, or a combination of the three. A gain stage ahead of the filter section can add distortion, and the ring mod, flanger and aliaser effects can run alongside the filters2. The circuit is analog2.

Guitar Pedal X lists the controls as Decay (effect fade), Envelope Sensitivity, Gain, Volume, LFO Rate, LFO Depth, Frequency Range, Resonance, a wave selector, a filter selector, an effect selector, a tap tempo footswitch and an on/bypass footswitch1. The wave selector offers Ramp Up, Ramp Down, Square, Triangle, Sinewave, Lumps, Stepped and Random; the filter selector offers Up, Up & Down and Down; the effect selector offers RingMod, Flanger and Aliaser1.

Guitar Pedal X put the price at around $250 when the pedal is in stock1. The maker's product page lists a manual2. Guitar Pedal X said more units should follow fairly soon, and that the first batch was gone before it clicked on the notification email1.
