Dunlop released a special edition Eric Clapton Cry Baby wah, a gold-plated variant of the GCB95 that marks 60 years of his career, Guitar World reported on November 18, 20241. MusicRadar reported the pedal the following day2.
The circuit is based on the GCB95 Cry Baby Standard Wah, and the casting is gold-plated12. The rubber treadle carries gold plating and an "EC"2. Clapton's model has no additional control dials, unlike other signature wahs1. The bottom is inscribed: "Honoring 60 electrifying years of Eric Clapton: from The Yardbirds and Cream to a mesmerizing solo odyssey, Mr Clapton's masterful contributions have helped sculpt rock n' roll as we know it today."1
The pedal is priced at $299.99 and is available now1. Guitar Center sells it exclusively for US customers, with selected retailers worldwide1. Funds raised go to the Crossroads Center, Clapton's non-profit organization that helps support addicts in recovery12. MusicRadar describes the pedal as a limited edition2; Guitar World calls it a special edition1.
Dunlop says Clapton began working with the late Jim Dunlop Sr. in 1986 and became one of the company's first and most important Cry Baby artists2.
"We are honoured that our company's relationship with the legendary guitar player continues to this day. With this special limited edition Eric Clapton Cry Baby Wah, we're paying tribute to Mr Clapton's 60-year legacy."
MusicRadar notes that Clapton used a Vox V846 on "White Room"2.
