Dunlop announced the Way Huge Smalls Doom Hammer Fuzz on September 22, 2025, with the pedal available now at $169.99 street1. The Way Huge pedal is based on a modded clone of an op-amp-powered fuzz circuit from 19781.
According to Bass Magazine, the circuit began in 1998, when Jeorge Tripps modified an op-amp-powered fuzz circuit from 1978 for the band Oranger1. Tripps later refined the design for a tighter low end and more reliable performance on stage, and built prototypes based on the modded original that became the Doom Hammer Fuzz1. MusicRadar reported that the 1978 pedal was "surely" an Electro-Harmonix Big Muff Pi, and that the Doom Hammer is part of the Smalls series, so it is considerably more compact than the original2. Guitar Pedal X described the pedal as based on Tripps's 1998 mod of a "presumably 1978 Opamp Big Muff"3.
The pedal has three controls: Output, Tone and Fuzz12. MusicRadar reported plenty of range on the Fuzz dial2, and Gearnews said that at higher fuzz values the pedal produces a dense sound while moderate settings give a slight, clearly defined crunch4. Dunlop lists tighter low end, a less pronounced scoop and improved stage performance among the highlights1. MusicRadar reported that the pedal takes 9V DC from a pedalboard power supply, has a blue LED and is true bypass2. Gearnews reported that it can also run on a 9-volt battery or an external supply such as the Dunlop ECB0034.
"The Way Huge Smalls Doom Hammer Fuzz will pound your ears with thick saturation worthy of high-desert riffage and dense walls of fuzz straight from a '90s fever dream."
Reported prices differ. Bass Magazine gave $169.99 street1, MusicRadar gave $1692, and Gearnews listed $182.00 at Thomann alongside a $156.00 figure4. Guitar Pedal X listed $169 in the USA and UK stock due October 313.
