Eventide and Third Man Hardware announced the Knife Drop, an effects pedal combining octave fuzz with analog synth tones, with a US release date of October 29, 2024 and an MSRP of $2991. A limited-edition yellow model was offered exclusively on Third Man Records' website for $3331. A Guitar.com review published February 28, 2025 describes the pedal as arriving "right at the end of 2024"2.
The pedal blends the incoming guitar signal with a monophonic analog-style synth, with the blend set by one of three top-mounted knobs; the signal then feeds a drive stage running from overdrive to gated fuzz, and a second footswitch engages an octave up or down2. The alt function of the three knobs sets the filter's attack, resonance and cutoff, and the filter can be placed before or after the distortion stage2. Eventide's announcement lists a Synth Mix knob, a drive section, an envelope-controlled filter with adjustable resonance and switchable routing, and a secondary function layer1.
The Knife Drop has stereo output via a TRS stereo jack, MIDI control, expression pedal and external footswitch operation, and editing through Eventide's H90 Control app2. It also has a USB-C port for firmware updates and an LED ladder on the front for preset indication, with presets created by Jack White2. Eventide's announcement cites stereo I/O with switchable guitar/line level inputs and an LED ladder display for preset navigation1.
Guitar.com's review states that presets, including White's, can only be accessed or switched with an external footswitch or MIDI, and that a preset can be saved on the pedal by holding both footswitches2. The review rated the pedal 8 out of 10 and called it "outrageously great fun"2.
"Collaborating with Eventide on the Knife Drop has been an inspiring and exciting experience that expanded into some amazing sonic possibilities."
