Subdecay announces EZ MIDI 3.0 as ground-up rewrite

October 1, 2026 · 1 sources

Subdecay announced EZ MIDI 3.0, a complete rewrite of its MIDI and preset module for effects designers and DIY builders, in a post dated October 4, 2026. The maker says the new version moves the platform natively to modern HAL and STM32CubeIDE.

According to Subdecay, earlier versions relied on a custom ST HAL running inside a cross-platform framework, which locked the module into an older version of HAL. EZ MIDI 3.0 is described as "A complete ground-up rewrite for long term future proofing." The maker says it is actively maintained and being rolled out one module at a time, and that newer versions will branch off by functionality to reduce bug testing time.

The first module available is EZ MIDI MCP, which Subdecay describes as digital control of 8 digital potentiometers with all the resources to get started. The maker says an LFO version will be available soon. No price or ship date is given for EZ MIDI 3.0.

Earlier generations remain on the maker's page. EZ MIDI 2.0 moved customization to a web based MIDI editor and added comprehensive control re-routing; its evaluation version is free to use, fully functional but limited to two hours between power ups, with documentation for the STM32F103 Bluepill board. EZ MIDI 1.0 began as Subdecay's internal tool for adding digital control to analog circuits and was standardized into a reusable module in 2019. Subdecay says EZ MIDI 1 products are still offered but no longer receive feature updates.

Subdecay also lists EZ MIDI PRO, a customized version of its EZ MIDI control for pedal builders, and the EZ WIZARD programmer board, which the maker says unlocks advanced features with no coding required. EZ MIDI CONTROL is described as a way to add MIDI, savable presets and tap tempo to most effects designs.
