The Fender Godzilla Distortion pedal is now available outside Japan, Guitar.com reported on May 5, 2026. The pedal was first shown in October 2025 alongside Godzilla-themed Stratocasters and, like those guitars, was sold only in Japan at first1. Gearnews also reported the wider release on May 52, and MusicRadar reported it on May 63.
The pedal uses an op-amp distortion circuit with active Treble and Bass controls, plus Level and Gain142. MusicRadar says the Bass and Treble knobs offer 15dB of boost or cut, and that an internal trimmer under the baseplate adjusts midrange3. Guitar Pedal X lists the controls as active Treble, active Bass, Level and Gain4. The pedal has true-bypass switching, top-mounted jacks and an aluminum enclosure13. MusicRadar says it runs on 9V DC and that its orange LED lights inside the artwork's open mouth3. Gearnews says it can also run on a 9-volt battery or an AC adapter, which is not included2.
Guitar Pedal X describes the pedal as a Japanese collaboration with Toho Co, which owns the Godzilla rights, and says a licensing fee sits within the price4. MusicRadar says it is a limited run but that Fender does not say how limited3. Guitar Pedal X reported on May 11 that the US Fender allocation was gone and UK stock was running low4.
Reported prices differ. MusicRadar gives $1493, and Guitar Pedal X gives $1494. Gearnews gives $156, with a second figure of $144.002. Guitar Pedal X compares the $149 figure with $109 for the Hammertone Distortion and says the details seem identical4. MusicRadar says the Hammertone Distortion shared the same EQ stage, internal trimmer and control setup3.
"It's technically a limited run but Fender does not say how limited."
