Hamstead Soundworks releases Signature Analog Tremolo MKII

Hamstead Soundworks has released the MKII version of its Signature Analog Tremolo, the company's all-analog tremolo pedal. Guitar World reports that Hamstead first put the tremolo circuitry from its Artist +RT series amplifiers into a pedal in 2016, and that the MKII loses the extra footswitch for the boost circuit but offers a smaller footprint, a control input, a third waveform and a Shape control1.
The pedal carries the Signature 'Sinewave' circuit from the Artist +RT series amplifiers in a pedalboard-friendly format, alongside two additional tremolo modes2. The Sinewave mode is described by the maker as a true sinusoidal waveform; Classic mode replicates the tremolo sounds of vintage amplifiers; and the MKII adds Triangle mode, which the maker says is particularly useful with the Shape control2. The Shape control tilts any of the waveforms to the left or right, which the maker says can create up and down sawtooth waveforms in Triangle mode and accentuate the thump of output bias style tremolo in Classic mode2. Guitar World's reviewer found the Shape knob has no effect in its notched central position but skews the waveform in either direction when turned, and that the Triangle waveform is capable of sawtooth and reverse sawtooth patterns with the Shape knob in play1.
Speeds range from 0.4 to 15Hz, controllable by the Speed control, an external expression pedal or a high/low speed remote2. The Depth control sets the level of the effect, and a Gain control provides up to 10dB of boost2. The pedal uses an optical OptoKick footswitch from TheGigRig2. Guitar World lists buffered bypass and an internal Power Up mode dipswitch among the features, with controls for Depth, Speed, Gain, Shape, a Modulation Mode switch and a bypass footswitch1.
